The Roaring 20s
Sixty of our members joined us for a ‘Roaring 20s’ evening to celebrate the opening of our brand new dining room. One of our members designed it herself in a glorious Art-Deco style with sparkling Art-Deco chandeliers and furniture, bevelled glass panels, all set in a teal coloured room.

Everything is new, the carpet, curtains, a stunning Art Deco mirror, some of which were most generously donated by Lorenzo. Attention to detail has provided us with new chrome door handles, table lights, 1930 wall lights, wine lists, black napkins and black and white china. The old cupboards have been replaced by Art Deco cupboards and even the dining room door has a mural to set the scene – “It’s time to drink champagne and dance on the tables!”.

We began with free champagne, kindly provided by our Chairman, Denis Woulfe OBE and then the entertainment began! The party was soon dancing in the coffee room, though our Charleston skills left a lot to be desired! The gong then sounded and excitedly, members entered into a glamorous world of jazz – all glittering mirrors and swooping chandeliers with ostrich feathers and flowers in giant urns, skilfully arranged by Lorenzo.

People have been kind enough to say that it is now the most beautiful dining room in Cheltenham.
