The Summer Garden party took place in a member’s private garden, which necessitated members having to find their way there through a secret gate in Montpellier Gardens. There , with a jazz duo playing saxophone and piano, Ryan shaking cocktails , Carl having prepared delicious canapés, Lyn and Hettie looking after all the members’ needs – a great party was had. However, it was the day before the July heatwave and a rogue shower soon had everyone sheltering under the very useful Weeping Silver Birch tree. Another group under an awning with a little hole in, made an ingenious move by filling the hole with an open umbrella! What more of an English garden party could there have been than this?
